Nicholas Jarrett has been a musician for over 35 years, starting violin at the age of four.  He studied violin, piano, and voice at the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Conservatory of Music. Nick is the co-owner of Metropolitan Conservatory where he maintains a studio for private lessons and is the Director of Programming and Operations.  He founded the Camerata Occhio dal’Elefante (COdE) student ensemble in 2011 and continues to direct the ensemble on a weekly basis. Nick also regularly leads orchestra sectionals in collaboration with local schools in the metro area. 

 

In addition to private lessons and directing COdE, he has worked with students with cochlear implants at St. Joseph's Institute for the Deaf in Lenexa, Kansas and was director for the summer school music program at St. Monica's elementary school in Kansas City, Missouri. Nick has chaired the KCMTA Concerto Competition in partnership with the Heritage Philharmonic, is a board member of the newEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, co-founded Music Across Borders, annually adjudicates for Mid-America Music Association’s Festival, and is a contributor to the Gemini Project.  He also frequently performs as a freelance musician.  Nick is a member of the Kansas City Music Teachers Association, the Missouri Music Teachers Association, and the Music Teachers National Association.  Nick lives in midtown Kansas City with his wife Lindsey, their daughter Eva, and two cats.
